Frequently Asked Questions
*What is a pedalboard? A pedalboard is a piece of equipment that a musician uses when they use effects pedals. These are commonly at your feet. That is where the first part of the name comes from being “pedal”. Most commonly these were made out of wood or a board. So hence the word “Pedal Board” or “Pedalboard”. The effects pedals are mounted to the board via either velcro, dual lock, or in some cases plastic zip ties for ease of use and to keep all of the pedals being used organized.
*Do I need a pedalboard? If you are using effects pedals it is totally recommended. This will keep you organized and make setting up and tearing down at a gig SO much easier.
*What size pedalboard do I need? That all depends on how many pedals that you are going to be using or if you are planning on getting more in the future. If you know for a fact that you are only going to use four standard size pedals all the time, then you would only need a small pedalboard. If you are going to be using A LOT of pedals, well you will need an XL pedalboard.
*Are wooden pedalboards heavy? Yes and no. It all depends on the type of wood that you have your pedalboard constructed out of. Almost all of our pedalboards are under 2lbs, but there are some that are heavier. For example if you have a pedalboard made from Pine it will be a lot lighter than a board made from Oak. Oak is a very dense wood. If you have a board made out of Purpleheart wood, it would be heavier than Oak. Our common pedalboards are all pretty light.
*Will wooden pedalboards warp? As with ANY wooden instrument if you don’t take care of it it can be damaged. For example, leaving your pedalboard in a hot car in August is just as bad as leaving your guitar in a hot car in August. You should always take care of your gear no matter what it is.
*Will power supplies fit under your boards? Yes they will. If a board needs to be modified to make that happen, we will do that at NO CHARGE in almost all cases.
*How do I attach my pedals to my pedalboard? There are many different ways to do this. Adhesive backed hook and loop Velcro is the most common way. You can also use a product that is called Dual Lock, which is similar to Velcro, but it is a lot stronger. Some folks don’t like to put anything adhesive on their pedals and they use plastic zip ties to attach their pedals. There are many different ways to do it. You just need to find the way that works for you best. You can check out our videos on how to attach your pedals right here.
